van
Dijk.
Van
Dijk’s list of suitors is continuing to grow with Manchester City, Chelsea and
Everton all keen on the Dutchman.
Now
the French champions have joined the race for his signature.
The
mounting interest is a headache for Southampton, who are determined to fend off
all interest in Van Dijk in January.
He
signed a new six-year deal last season, less than a year after his £13m move to
St Mary’s from Celtic.
The
25 year-old is now valued at £40m after a string of dominant displays in the
heart of Southampton’s defence.

team on Wednesday evening.

United boss was joined by his inner circle as they took the opportunity for
some downtime ahead of the hectic festive fixture schedule.
United
face Sunderland and Middlesbrough at home before travelling to West Ham in the
space of just seven days.
But
ahead of that Mourinho went for dinner with Rui Faria and coaches Silvino
Louro, Ricardo Formosinho, Carlos Lalin and Emilio Alvarez and analyst Giovanni
Cerra.
Executive
vice chairman Ed Woodward was also in attendance.
West
Ham set for January firesale
West
Ham are set to stage a big clear-out of flops in the January window – with
striker Simone Zaza the first to go.
But
the Hammers will fight off all attempts to prise away star player Dimitri Payet
.
They
have taken a dim view of the Frenchman’s latest interviews, in which he refused
to close the door on a move away.
But they remain resolute that, with with
four-and-a-half years left on his contract, they will not be pressured into
surrendering their 29-year-old prize asset.
They
will, however, allow several other players to leave – starting with Juventus
loanee Zaza. West
Ham paid a £5million loan fee for the 25-year-old, who arrived in the summer
with a further £20m payable if a permanent deal is activated after 15
-appearances.
Liverpool
consider move for City's Hart'
Joe
Hart could make an amazing Premier League return with a move to Liverpool .
Keeper
Hart is on a season-long loan from Manchester City to Torino, and there is
serious interest from the Italians in trying to tempt him to join them
permanently.
But
Liverpool are also watching developments closely and the 29-year-old could be
interested in a move to Anfield next summer.
England
No1 Hart has earned rave reviews in Italy and in addition to Torino being keen
to hang onto him, his performances have also alerted other Serie A clubs.
But
there would still be a temptation to return to the Premier League, with City
ready to sell next summer after he was unceremoniously dumped in pre-season by
their newly-arrived manager Pep Guardiola.
Benfica
planning for life without United target Lindelof
Benfica
defender Victor Lindelof was the consummate professional in what has been
billed as his likely last game for the Portuguese club.
He
was largely untroubled as Benfica beat Rio Ave 2-0 in their final Primeira Liga
match of the year in front of over 50,000 at the Estadio da Luz to restore
their four-point lead at the top of the standings.
It
completes a remarkable calendar year for the Portuguese champions, especially
on the home front, winning 30, drawing two and losing two of the 34 domestic
games in 2016.
A
major factor in the Lisbon club’s incredible form was undoubtedly the
contribution made by Swede Lindelof, who has been an ever-present since he
broke into the team in January.

Rodriguez
"offended" by Real
James
Rodriguez is frustrated with his situation at Real Madrid - and just “wants to
feel wanted”, ex-Los Blancos boss Jorge Valdano has said,
The
Colombian’s future remains up in the air, having failed to nail down a regular
starting spot under Zinedine Zidane.
He
admitted after the Club World Cup final that he was considering offers from
elsewhere.
And
Sunday Mirror Sport revealed last week that Chelsea are considering a move for
Rodriguez as a replacement for China-bound Oscar.
Valdano,
who played and manage at the Bernabeu, understands Rodriguez’s annoyance.
At
Real, he’s been hidden in the lower draw and that offends him.
He’s
young and in the prime of his career, you can understand his desperation when
he’s not getting any minutes.
James
wants what all professionals want: to be a little bit wanted, to have minutes
and to be a key player.
